looks like dutch KSA new fine structure is big. they can now fine operators up to €2 MILLION for violations.well it used to be much lower but they've gone proper hardcore. 5 different categories now ranging from €500k to €2kk. apparently money laundering stuff gets automatic max fine
if anyone playing on dutch sites wondering if this gonna make operators pull out or just pass costs to players
 
tbh the dutch market has been getting more restrictive anyway. They bannd untargeted gambling ads last year, now only allow marketing to over-24s. Wondering if it will make some good or just make it unprofitable to operate there legally

The fine structure is quite comprehensive actually. They're implementing a 9-step calculation process that considers turnover, culpability, and mitigating factors. What's particularly interesting is the 3% gross turnover penalty for Category 4 violations. For larger operators, this could easily exceed the €2 million base fine. So this reflects the European trend toward making compliance violations genuinely painful rather than just cost-ofdoing-business. Similar to what we've seen with GDPR fines reaching hundreds of millions.
But the real impcat will be on medium-sized operators who can't absorb these penalties as easily as the major players. Expect significant market consolidation in the Netherlands.

yeah we went from no legal online gambling to overregulated mess in like 3y. now they want to raise gambling tax to 37% next year too. maybe just maybe its time to admit they dont want gambling at all?

@ValDes mate the income verification thing is getting insane everywhere not just netherlands. had to submit 3 months payslips just to increase my monthly limit to £500 on sky bet. now starting to think these regulations designed to make gambling so annoying people just give up so wait maybe thats the point?

oh and what a fucking surprise taxhike is already backfirin cos first half 2025 shown 25% drop in revenue despite higher tax rate. maybe they should focus on hitting illegal operators instead. iknow i nkow easier to say...

@notsopoor fully with you on this while legal sites have deposit limits, income checks, cool-off periods, boring games with terrible rtp offshore ones have none of that plus way better bonuses. regulators diggin their own grave here
 
well great looks like netherlands going full authoritarian on gambling industry but it will be interesting to see which operators bail vs ones try to comply. my guess is smaller sites gone by end of year
